Mouse Fun!

Our morning began with the Four Square materials from the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum. Children use the colorful, chunky, big and little pieces to make squares, rectangles, steps and solve puzzles. We can count, identify colors, match and sort! They provide an early geometry base of knowledge, as well as problem solving experience.

We are having fun learning together!

We made identical pictures!

At morning circle, we sang and worked with colors and counting.
In the afternoon, we also did a calendar lesson.

Our skill work today included tip toe walking on the line, standing still to reach a scarf on tip toes and kicking a ball!

The morning class enjoyed re-reading the Mouse Count story
and re-enacting it with props.

The afternoon class enjoyed a story where some mice introduced us to the concept of opposites.

In the morning, we made some magic! First, we learned some magic words...Hocus Pocus! Then, scarves would appear in a hat. We counted the scarves as we pulled each one out of the hat. We set the scarves next to the numbers to reinforce how many we had counted.

The afternoon class did a final lesson with their number mice. They colored the mice by reading which color to use. We have some very good colorers this year! Then they ordered the mice. They are bringing the mice home in their backpacks today to play games and practice ordering the mice with you...
Have fun!

There was free play time in the morning!
