LADYBUGS!!

We started our week in our favorite way...outside recess!

The morning class sang their learning songs.

The afternoon class worked on alphabet fluency and completed the calendar.

Time to move!

Miss Kathy shared a counting book in the morning.
We counted down ladybugs, from 10 to 1!

The afternoon class read a learning poster. We discovered the life cycle of ladybugs. Did you know that they hatch from eggs, like all insects?

Then...SURPRISE!

We had real, live ladybugs, in ladybug houses, visit our class. They will
stay for a couple of days! We discovered that they can climb right up walls, need water to drink and love to eat tiny bugs, called aphids!
(Miss Kathy had ordered ladybug larvae and caterpillars, so we could watch their life cycles. We could not get
the ladybugs because the company was out. The caterpillars got lost in the mail & then it was too hot in Arizona
for them to be sent. Live ladybugs from the nursery were the only option left.)

The morning class had one more job. They colored the numerals 1-10. Then they had 10 ladybug stickers and put one on each numeral-
one to one correspondence!

The final job for the afternoon class was writing the numerals 1-5 in our schoolbooks. We put the correct number of ladybug stickers on each numeral!
We made sets!
