BE KIND!
Today our school hosted a Kindness Rally. Fifth grade students from several of the other
elementary schools in our district were invited to participate. A group called
The Be Kind Crew (from The Be Kind People Project-check them out on Youtube ) came
to work with those older students. We were able to participate in a few of the activities.
It was a great experience for our little ones to be part of a very large group activity.
Our Morning class enjoyed creating with play-doh and building with Lego's.
They sang our learning songs at circle. We heard a story about an old bear that had
some seasonal dreams as he hibernated. Then we joined all of the students at the
school for a high energy assembly by The Kindness Crew. They danced and helped
us make a pledge to be kind people!
In the afternoon we started by building some Lego structures and creating with play-doh.
We began our alphabet fluency work, then were called out to the courtyard for the
grand finale to the Kindness Rally. We watched all of the fifth graders perform a dance
they learned from The Be Kind Crew. They all released balloons and then there was a
release of beautiful, white doves. We headed back inside to finish our alphabet work.
We completed calendar and listened to the old bear story.
It was a very different & exciting day for us.
