A Hungry Thing came to school today!

When we arrived today we worked on letter buliding with wooden lines and curves and the stamp & see.

We had our circle songs. In the morning we had to find the letter our name starts with on the amazing alphabet poster. Some of us start with the same letters!

We did some songs with movements, too. After we sang the Hokey Pokey, Miss Kathy showed us the American flag. We discovered that there is a pattern with stripes on the flag. We practiced putting our hand on our heart and standing for The Pledge Of Alligence. Then we had fun waving some streamers as we danced to the song, You're A Grand Old Flag.

Miss Julie read a silly story about a hungry thing. He came to town & asked the people to feed him. But it was tricky for the peolpe to figure out what he wanted to eat. He asked for shancakes, tickles and foodles. Finally a smart little boy realized he wanted pancakes, pickles and noodles. Miss julie played a food rhyming game with half of the class and the Hungry Thing. The other half of the class worked on alphabet skills or writing.

We had a delicious snack of graham crackers and Nutella.

Hickory Dickory Dock...

Our day started with shapes, letters & wikki stix. We warmed up our fingers and got set to learn.

Miss Kathy taught us a new color song...brown. We talked about things that are brown & learned the sign for brown.

We read a new nursery rhyme about a lady that had nothing in her cupboard to give her dog. We also practiced saying some other nursery rhymes together.

We are enjoying practicing a fun, new song & dance.
Do you know how to Hokey Pokey??

We sang Where Do You Start Your Letters? ....at the top!

The morning class did some work with wooden lines and curves. There are big and little ones. We had to listen closely as Miss Kathy told us to do different things with them ("Put the little curve beside you."). We placed the wooden pieces on letter cards to form different capital letters.
Then we practiced writing our names.

In the afternoon, we learned to make the letter U. We used slates to do a wet-dry-try strategy. Then we wrote in our school books.

Cuties for snack!!

Friday, Friday, Friday is our favorite day!!
We enjoyed starting our day working puzzles.

We completed our circle songs and calendar. Using the laser finger pointers to touch the ABC's is fun!

We learn the sign language way to say our colors.
We learned a new song today...The Hokey Pokey! We had lots of fun. I told the kids that their Moms, Dads, Grandmas and grandpas probably   know that song, too Maybe you can have fun singing and dancing to
                            The Hokey Pokey at home.

We continued reading nursery rhymes. Today we read 1 -2 Buckle My Shoe and Little Bo Peep. Poor Bo Peep, she lost her sheep. She had to look this way....and that way.

Then the morning students worked on ordering and matching capital letters. The afternoon kids played a rhyming game and completed a worksheet. the worksheet was pretty hard so we will work  some more on rhyming and try the worksheet again next week.
