We had wintery fun today as we learned more about penguins.  We read a book today called "Plenty of Penguins."  We learned about where penguins live (Antarctica, Peru, Australia, and South Africa), what they eat (fish and squid) what their bodies are covered with (feathers) and how they get around (waddling and swimming).  We also learned that some daddy penguins hold the eggs and chicks on their feet to help keep them warm.  We practiced being daddy penguins.

We also worked on AB patterns with pictures and stacked cubes.

The morning class even found a little time to play.

Today was action-packed
And we learned many new action words!

We listened to a story called "Penguin's Big Hill" and in the story the penguin jumped, rolled, waddled, slid, and pulled.

Then, thanks to Miss Melanie, we got to jump, roll, waddle,

slide, and pull.

We also spent some time putting together puzzles and writing our names.

We missed you, Miss Kathy.  We hope that you feel better soon.

Another wintery day...

We warmed up our fingers & got ready to learn by playing with flubber today! Flubber is cool & fun. We made snowmen with the flubber.

We really enjoyed singing our circle songs today.
Everyone sang with such enthusiasm. We sounded great!

Next Miss Kathy told us about some animals that live in & like cold, snowy weather. These animals live in the Arctic. We found the Arctic on the globe & read a story naming some Arctic animals. We learned how Arctic animals change the color of their fur or feathers so they can hide & protect themselves. They camoflauge.

Next we did our writing warm ups to build our muscles.

The morning class practiced making a cross, circle & square. The afternoon class practiced some of our letters. We used a wet-dry-try strategy. First, you trace the shape on your little chalkboard with a small piece of chalk. Then erase the chalk with a small, damp sponge. You can only erase the lines you made by tracing over them with the sponge. Then you trace again with a small, dry cloth. Then everyone writes it once more. It's a great way to have multiple tries at practicing writing & to work on grip by using very small tools.

I can make a "K"!

I love to write my name!!

It's great when kids bring in work from home to show me...

We had a nice snack & sang our good bye song!
Happy Trails!

Fantastic Friday...
First of all, thank you for sending in these very creative snowmen. We have enjoyed looking at our snow family! It's not too late to send yours in.

We had fun warming up our fingers & getting ready to learn with tops & wind up toys. We have a new wind up. It's a seal with a ball. It spins around and makes us laugh! Afternoon kids worked on name writing.

We all had fun working on our ball skills. We practiced throwing, catching & kicking. We tried to step & kick, instead of kicking from a stand still.

We enjoyed listening to a story on tape. It had soothing music in the background & beautiful illustrations. It was a story about a Momma Bear & her cub throughout a year.

This poster was see through. When we held it up to a light,
we could see the animals that were hibernating under the snow!
We made sure we had time to play outside today!
We took our snack outside, too!

Our cheese was shaped like a familiar mouse character!

More crackers, please!

Have a nice weekend!
